1227 posts of teachers and staff will be filled in Allahabad University.

Allahabad University (AU) will recruit for the posts of Assistant Professor through direct interview only. The executive council of the university on Tuesday overturned the decision of the Academic Council. According to this, there will be no written examination for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Professor. Along with this, the Executive Council also approved the recruitment of 595 teachers' posts lying vacant. In these, 357 Assistant Professor, 168 Associate Professor and 78 Professor posts are to be recruited. Advertisement for this will be released soon.

The decision was taken by the Academic Council on August 4
A meeting of the Academic Council was held in the university on August 4. It was decided that this time a written examination would be conducted for the recruitment of Assistant Professors. In this, the registration of the qualified candidates will be screened and then interviews will be conducted on that basis. The council took this decision under the UGC Regulations 2018.

What did the Executive Council say?
The Executive Council did not approve the decision of the Academic Council. Most of the members of the Executive Council said that the UGC guidelines do not state that written examination is mandatory for the recruitment of Assistant Professors. Members said this would complicate the entire process. Therefore it can be removed. This was approved by the council.

632 non-academic posts will also be recruited
The Executive Council also gave a presentation of the roster for the recruitment of 632 non-academic posts. Of the 632 vacancies, Group A has 32 posts, Group B has 73 and Group C 527 posts. It was also decided that a fresh advertisement would be issued for recruitment to the posts of Hindi Typist, Hindi Translator and Hindi Officer.

What else happened in the meeting?

  • Discussion was also held regarding the allegation made by a university teacher against a senior professor. It was decided that this complaint should be handed over to the C-cash of the university. C-cash will report in the next meeting of the Working Council and then a decision will be taken.
  • In the meeting, it was also decided to terminate the service of Dr. Rohit Mishra, Associate Professor, Department of Science and Society. Questions were raised on the qualifications of Dr. Rohit. The allegations were found to be true in the investigation.
  • Dr. Richa Mishra of the Department of Electronics and Communication, who went to Australia without the permission of the Vice-Chancellor, was suspended from the Executive Council. An inquiry has also been instituted against him.
  • An inquiry has been ordered against the lab assistants of the Department of Chemistry, absent for five years. Many times the Head of Department had complained against them.
  • Discussions also took place in the university regarding the proposed initiation ceremony on 23 September. It was informed that Governor Anandiben Patel, Chancellor Ashish Chauhan, University Grants Commission Chairman Professor DP Singh have given approval to attend the function.
