The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking postponement of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2021. After the decision of the court, now this examination will be held as per the schedule i.e. on July 23 only. Hearing the petition, on Tuesday, the court gave several instructions to the officials related to the examination. The court said that the safety measures of Corona should be strictly followed during the examination.

Corona guidelines should be followed
The matter was heard by a bench of Justice Nageswara Rao and Justice Aniruddha Bose. The bench questioned the reason given in the petition for postponing the examination. It was said in the petition that it would be difficult for the candidates residing in the lockdown areas to appear in the examination. On this, the court said that the examination is going to be held on July 23. It would not be appropriate to postpone the exam now. The court said that it is necessary to follow the corona guidelines, but this does not mean that the candidates should be insisted to take the vaccine.

Candidates were advised to get the vaccine
The National Law University (NLU) consortium had issued a notification on this issue on June 14. It was said that the CLAT for admission to both UG and PG will be conducted on July 23. It was told in the notification that the exam will be held in pen-paper mode with covid security protocol. Along with this, the consortium had also advised the candidates to get the vaccine.

Vaccination not possible for all candidates
A petition was filed challenging the notification issued by the consortium on June 14. In the notification of the consortium, it was advised to vaccinate the candidates, but, it is not possible for the candidates to get vaccinated as most of them are below 18 years of age."

In such a situation, the petitioner had sought to devise an alternative and safe method of conducting the examination. Failure to do so, the examination was asked to be postponed until the situation of Corona returned to normal.
