National Testing Agency (NTA) has made major changes in the national level medical and engineering entrance exam this year. In the rank list of JEE Main 2021 for Engineering and NEET 2021 for Medical, the provision of giving preference to older candidates has been removed. The age of the candidates is not mentioned as the criteria for tie breaker in the information brochures of both the examinations. Earlier in NEET 2020, age criteria were used to determine the topper as two students scored 720 marks out of 720.

JEE Main tie breaking policy

  • Candidate having good NTA score in Maths will be placed higher in merit.
  • If the number is the same in maths also, then physics will decide. The candidate having good NTA score in Physics will be placed higher in the merit.
  • If even Maths and Physics fail to decide, then the one with more marks in Chemistry will be placed higher in the merit.
  • If a decision is still not made, then the one with fewer wrong answers than the correct answers will be given selection priority.
