The National Testing Agency (NTA) has answered the questions in the minds of the candidates regarding the marking pattern after the change in the paper pattern for the medical entrance exam National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Giving information about this, the agency said that the test pattern of NEET-UG has been revised. Candidates will have to attempt 35 questions in each subject. Whereas out of the remaining 15 questions, only 10 questions will have to be attempted.

Change in exam pattern for the first time

This is the first time that the exam pattern of the medical entrance exam has been changed. Till the year 2020, in NEET-UG, 180 objective type questions were asked from Chemistry, Physics and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Their answer was to be given only on a specially designed sheet through a ballpoint pen. Four marks will be awarded to the candidates for every correct answer. At the same time, there will be negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

In the new paper pattern, each subject will have two sections

According to NTA, the new paper pattern will consist of two sections in each subject. Under this, there will be 35 questions in Section-A, which candidates will have to answer compulsorily. Whereas, Section-B will have 15 questions out of which candidates can choose to attempt any 10 questions.

Change in exam pattern after cut in 12th syllabus

Earlier, NTA had told that in view of the loss of studies due to Corona, various school education boards had cut the syllabus of class 12th in 2020-21. Keeping this in mind, the agency has decided to give option in section "B" for each of the four subjects by changing the pattern in the examination.
