
Shamli, March 6: Aastha Jain, a 23-year-old from Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has secured the 9th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025. This remarkable achievement comes after she qualified for the UPSC in 2024, previously attaining the 131st rank to become an IPS officer. Currently, she is on a break from her training in Hyderabad.
Aastha’s family resides in Kandhla, where her father runs a grocery store, and her mother is a homemaker. She is the second of five siblings, with her elder sister being a doctor and her younger sister pursuing an MBBS degree. Before becoming an IPS officer, Aastha attended coaching classes in Delhi for a brief period but later relied on self-study.
Her mother, Mamta Jain, shared that Aastha had qualified for the UPSC twice before, achieving the 131st rank in her first attempt and the 186th rank in her second. This time, she has made a significant leap to the 9th rank.
In total, over 20 students from Uttar Pradesh have been selected in the UPSC final results, including Kartikeya Singh from Gonda with a rank of 269, Aadarsh Pandey from Lucknow with a rank of 347, and Shubham Singh Chandel from Jaunpur with a rank of 378. In the past five years, 95 students from Uttar Pradesh have successfully become IAS officers.
Aastha’s relatives celebrated her success by distributing sweets, while her father, Ajay Kumar, received the news of her IAS achievement while at his shop. The UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 final results saw a total of 958 candidates selected for various services, including 180 for IAS, 55 for IFS, and 150 for IPS.
