Anuj Agnihotri has previously cleared the UPSC exam twice and was appointed as an SDM in Delhi in his first attempt in 2023. His father, K.B. Agnihotri, works at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station, while his mother, Manju Agnihotri, is a homemaker. Anuj completed his education at the Central School for Nuclear Energy in Rawatbhata, scoring 94% in his 12th grade. He is also an avid table tennis player.
In this year’s results, a total of 180 candidates have been selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Candidates can check the final merit list by visiting the official websites upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.
The interview process for the selected candidates concluded on February 27, 2026, following the preliminary examination held on May 25, 2025, and the main examination conducted from August 22 to August 31, 2025.
Additionally, the Indian government has revised the cadre allocation rules for IAS and IPS officers, replacing the long-standing ‘zone system’ with a new ‘Cadre Allocation Policy 2026’. This new policy will categorize officers into four groups based on alphabetical order, eliminating geographical zones.
The new groups are as follows:
– Group I: AGMUT (Delhi/UTs), Andhra Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh
– Group II: Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh
– Group III: Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu
– Group IV: Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal
This restructuring aims to streamline the allocation process and provide candidates with clearer preferences for their postings.
