Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid: Yamaha India has expanded its hybrid commuter range with the launch of the new FZ-X Hybrid, priced at ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This new variant builds on the recently introduced FZ-S Hybrid and adds advanced fuel-saving features while retaining Yamaha’s signature design and reliability.
Hybrid Technology & Features
The FZ-X Hybrid comes equipped with Yamaha’s Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) system. This enables silent start and start/stop functionality, improving fuel efficiency—especially during stop-and-go city rides.
It also features a 4.2-inch full-color TFT display and updated switchgear for accessing the hybrid dashboard features, similar to the FZ-S Hybrid. While this technology improves mileage, it does not enhance performance—the engine output remains the same as the standard FZ-X.
Engine & Performance
The bike is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, producing 12.4hp and 13.3Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Yamaha’s hybrid system is focused on fuel efficiency, not performance upgrades. Power figures remain unchanged from the non-hybrid version.
Design and Build
The design remains identical to the regular FZ-X, with the only key change being a 2kg weight increase. The hybrid version weighs 141kg and is offered in a new Matte Green shade with golden alloy wheels, officially called “Matte Titan” by Yamaha.
It carries a ₹20,000 premium over the standard FZ-X and is ₹5,000 more expensive than the FZ-S Hybrid.
Price and Availability
The Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid is priced at ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is now available across Yamaha dealerships in India. It targets urban riders looking for a stylish, reliable, and fuel-efficient motorcycle in the 150cc commuter segment.
Final Verdict: Ideal for Eco-Conscious Commuters
The Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid offers a smart blend of fuel-saving features and signature Yamaha styling, making it an appealing choice for urban commuters. While the performance stays the same, the hybrid tech delivers real value in city traffic conditions. At a slight premium, it stands out as a stylish, eco-friendly upgrade for those looking to save on fuel without sacrificing ride quality.
