Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday asked to fill 6,229 vacant posts of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections etc. in central universities through a campaign by October. For this, he asked the respective vice-chancellors to issue an advertisement for recruitment next week. Pradhan said this in a meeting with Vice Chancellors of 45 central universities through digital medium. Pradhan said that filling up of vacancies in Central Universities is an important subject. "Central universities will work on mission mode to fill up about 6,000 vacancies by October 2021," he said.

He said that a total of 6,229 posts are vacant in these universities, out of which 1,012 posts of Scheduled Castes, 592 of Scheduled Castes, 1,767 of Other Backward Classes, 805 of Economically Weaker Sections, 350 of Divyang category and other general category posts are vacant. . The Education Minister said that the month of September is important. Teacher's festival will be celebrated in this month. The President will address on 5th September and the Prime Minister on 7th September.

Pradhan interacted with Vice Chancellors of 45 Central Universities on implementation of National Education Policy 2020, Academic Bank of Credit, Open and Online Education, Beginning of Academic Session 2021-22, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections. Discussed topics like filling the remaining vacancies of teachers and Amrit Mahotsav of freedom. Said that it is the responsibility of higher educational institutions to take forward the research and development work according to the needs of India.

Referring to the new National Education Policy, Pradhan said that the National Education Policy has started to be implemented. Some universities have also fulfilled their responsibility and started work on other works including preparing curriculum according to the new policy. In this context, he referred to the introduction of a four-year course along with the existing three-year course by the University of Delhi (DU). According to Pradhan, our universities are nurturing creativity, innovation and opportunities. The new National Education Policy – 2020 will play an important role in keeping India at the top position in the emerging new global order.

The Education Minister said, "Reading is the primary function of the universities. We have all been students and the nature of the student is antagonistic. There should be discipline in the institute but the attitude of democracy has to be taken along with it." Pradhan said, "The new policy in the field of higher education should be implemented on the basis of consensus. There is a need to update the curriculum regularly and in a time bound manner with emphasis on creativity and innovation.

He told the vice-chancellors of central universities, "This will be possible only when everyone makes efforts in this direction. You all have to implement it in your own way. He emphasized the importance of reading German and various European languages, Arabic, Japanese. Promote Indian languages
Underlining the importance of the Indian language, the Education Minister said, "I am not opposed to the English language, but Indian languages have to be given importance." It can be reproduced in any language. In such a situation, the mother tongue has to be given importance.

He called education on topics like technology, cyber security important and said that when counter-terrorism can be discussed in an institute located in another country like MIT, why can't it happen in Indian institutions. Referring to the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Pradhan said that there should be a comprehensive framework of educational institutions in this regard as to how the country should be in the coming 25 years and by the year 2047.
