National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET-SS)-2021 will be held from the old pattern this year. Due to the sharp comments of the Supreme Court on the last minute changes in the pattern, the Central Government has changed its decision. The government gave this information to a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud on Wednesday. The government said, changing the decision in the larger interest of the students, it has been decided that this time NEET-SS will be on the old pattern. The new pattern will be applicable from the 2022-23 session.

Thereafter the court disposed of the petition. Although the court clarified that the issue of the validity of the pattern is open, in future if questions arise on this, the court will hear. Actually, the National Board of Examinations and the National Medical Commission had changed the pattern of NEET-SS exam. This was challenged in the Supreme Court by 41 post graduate doctors. While hearing this, the court had raised the question on the government that why was there so much haste in implementing the new pattern?

It seems that this decision was taken to fill seats in private colleges. On Wednesday, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the Centre, said, in the interest of the court's observations and students, the government has decided to conduct the examination on the old pattern.
