For the talented students of Rajasthan, now the dream of studying in top universities of foreign countries will be easily fulfilled. The government will provide higher education facilities to 200 students of the state in selected 50 institutions of the world like Oxford, Harvard and Stanford University. For this, the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (RGS) scheme has been started from this session itself.

For this, applications can be made from October 22. Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced this scheme on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After which the Education Department, working swiftly, has made this scheme by making rules and regulations on it and has implemented this scheme from this session.

Higher Education Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati said that under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided for studies at the undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and post-doctoral levels from 50 renowned institutions of the world like Oxford, Harvard and Stanford University. The state government will bear the entire cost including the travel fare and tuition fees of the students.

30 percent award marked for girl students
The scholarship will be awarded only for the study of subjects related to humanities for undergraduate level courses. Every year, out of 200 meritorious students, 30 percent of the award will be marked for girl students and 60 girl students will be provided study facility. He said that before applying for the scholarship, it is necessary for the applicants to have admission in the respective foreign institutions. Under this scheme, priority will be given to the students having family income less than 8 lakh per year.

Subject wise seats will be like this
Scholarships will be given to 150 students for Humanities, Social Science, Agriculture and Forest Science, Nature and Environmental Science and Law, 25 for Management and Business Administration and Economics and Finance and 25 for Pure Science and Public Health subjects. In the event of vacancy in these subjects, a maximum of 15 candidates can be given scholarship in Engineering and Related Science, Medicine and Applied Science.

College Commissioner Sandesh Nayak informed that the applications would be received on the RGS portal/website of the state government. Applicants will be selected on the portal itself. On receipt of more than 200 applications from eligible applicants, the scholarship will be selected through lottery. He said that more information related to the application and scheme can be seen on the departmental website https://hte.rajasthan.gov.in/. Where the application process will start from October 22.
