Mumbai, April 10: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury passed away on April 8 at the age of 88 in West Bengal. He served as a legislator from the Kaliaganj assembly seat from 1996 to 2006 and was a Member of Parliament for the Malda South constituency in 2009. Khan held the position of Health and Family Welfare Minister from 2011 to 2014 and was re-elected as an MP from 2014 to 2019. Known affectionately as ‘Dalu Babu’, he entered politics under the guidance of his elder brother, AB A. Gani Khan Chowdhury, who was also a former Union Minister. His contributions to Indian politics and public service will be remembered.
