The Supreme Court has directed the Center to defer counseling for NEET-PG till it decides on the validity of the Centre's decision to introduce OBC and EWS reservation in all India quota. NEET PG result was earlier declared on 28 September and individual score cards were released on 9 October.

Supreme Court stays NEET PG counseling 2021

National Entrance cum Eligibility Test PG 2021 counseling for 50% All India Quota was earlier scheduled to start from October 25, 2021 i.e. today. The last date to complete the registration process of the first round was October 29, 2021 till 12 noon. However, SC has put on hold the counseling process till the validity of EWS-OBC reservation. Senior advocate Arvind P Datar said that the complete program of counseling has been announced. Taking note of this, the SC directed that the counseling should not proceed until the court decides on the issue of EWS-OBC reservation.

Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice B. V. Nagarathna recorded the assurance given by Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraja, appearing for the Centre, and observed that medical students will be in trouble if the counseling process goes ahead.

NEET-UG result may come by 30 October

Meanwhile, the NEET UG result may be declared by October 30. However, till now no official announcement has been made regarding the date of release of NEET-UG result. A record 16.14 lakh candidates had registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year, of which 95 per cent appeared in the exam. The NEET-UG exam was conducted at 3800 centres. It is worth noting that after the declaration of the result, candidates will be able to check and download it by visiting the official website neet.nta.nic.in.
