Gandhinagar, April 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second semiconductor unit in Gujarat on March 31. The unit, located in Sanand, will focus on the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) of advanced intelligent power modules (IPMs) used in automobiles and industrial devices. Each module will consist of 17 chips and will be supplied to California-based Alpha and Omega Semiconductor. This facility marks the second semiconductor unit in the country, following Micron Technology’s establishment.
During the inauguration, PM Modi also opened the Samrat Sampriti Museum, which showcases the historical and cultural heritage of Jainism, featuring over 2,000 rare artifacts. Additionally, he launched the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, enhancing connectivity in the region.
The new semiconductor unit is expected to significantly contribute to the local economy and create job opportunities in the technology sector.
