Mumbai, September 28: In a significant development for India’s transportation sector, Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the country’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) train on September 27. This initiative is part of a larger project worth over ₹1,542 crores aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure in Gujarat. The LNG train is notable for its ability to travel up to 2,200 kilometers on a single tank of gas, showcasing a shift towards more sustainable fuel sources in the railway sector.
During the event, Shah also announced plans to double a 21-kilometer stretch of the Sabarmati-Sarkhej railway line, which is expected to be completed by March 2028. This project will include upgrades to several stations and associated infrastructure.
