Chennai, September 23: Starbucks has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to establish its first Global Capability Center (GCC) in Chennai. The agreement was finalized on September 22, with the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
This new center will support Starbucks’ global business and technology operations, focusing on various sectors including software, finance, product development, and research and development (R&D). It will operate independently from Starbucks’ retail business in India and will collaborate with the company’s technology operations based in the United States.
Global Capability Centers are essential for multinational companies, allowing them to manage technology, finance, and R&D functions for their global operations. Chennai is recognized as a significant hub for GCCs, housing over 2,100 centers across India.
This initiative marks a significant step for Starbucks in enhancing its operational capabilities in India, further solidifying its presence in the market.
