Allahabad High Court Orders Inquiry into UP TGT Exam Errors

Allahabad, August 5: The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Secretary and Exam Controller of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to appear personally in court following the discovery of a significant number of incorrect questions in the TGT English exam. The court demanded clarification on how the question paper is prepared and the entire examination process.

In the TGT English paper, out of 125 questions, 33 were found to be incorrect, constituting nearly one-quarter of the paper. Initially, 29 questions were reported to be outside the syllabus, while candidates raised objections on four additional questions. An expert review, as directed by the court, confirmed that these four questions were also incorrect.

The commission informed the court that marks for the incorrect questions were redistributed among the remaining correct ones, and a revised selection list has been issued. However, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction with this arrangement, stating that redistributing marks is not a viable solution when over 25% of the questions are incorrect. The court emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the entire question paper preparation process.
