Anil Menon Sets Spacewalk Record; Agni-4 Missile Successfully Tested

Mumbai, August 8: In significant developments for aspiring government job seekers, two major events have been highlighted in today’s current affairs.

1. Anil Menon Completes Historic Spacewalk
On August 7, Indian-origin astronaut Anil Menon completed his first spacewalk alongside Jessica Meir at the International Space Station (ISS). The spacewalk commenced at 8:33 AM EDT (6:03 PM IST) and concluded at 3:00 PM EDT (12:30 AM IST). During the six-hour and 27-minute operation, Menon and Meir worked on structural upgrades outside the orbital laboratory, specifically installing mounting hardware for a 3B power channel. This upgrade is pivotal for future solar array installations, enhancing the ISS’s power supply.

2. Successful Testing of Agni-4 Ballistic Missile
On August 6, the Agni-4 ballistic missile was successfully tested from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The Defence Ministry confirmed that all operational and technical parameters were met during the test. With advanced avionics and a digital control system, the missile can accurately strike targets up to 4,000 kilometers away. This medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) project, initiated by DRDO in 2007, incorporates indigenous technologies, significantly improving its accuracy and operational range.

These developments are crucial for students preparing for government jobs, as they reflect advancements in India’s space and defense capabilities.
