Belgium PM Visits India, Signs Renewable Energy MoU

New Delhi, September 4: Belgium’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever arrived in India on September 3 for a three-day official visit. During his stay, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to engage in bilateral discussions. The two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting clean energy. They also set an ambitious goal to double mutual trade over the next five years, strengthening their economic partnership.

In addition to the renewable energy agreement, both countries signed a Letter of Intent to enhance cooperation in the defense sector. They also agreed to collaborate on cybercrime to address threats in the digital realm. Discussions covered various topics, including trade and investment, defense and security, technology, energy connectivity, and people-to-people relations.

Prime Minister De Wever paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, marking his first visit to India since taking office in February 2025. Furthermore, an MoU was signed for the training and skill development of diplomats from both nations.
