Bluevine Lays Off 80 Employees in 5-Minute Meeting

Mumbai, September 18: American fintech company Bluevine has made headlines recently due to significant layoffs affecting its Indian customer support team. Reports indicate that approximately 80 employees were informed of their termination during a brief online meeting.

Affected employees shared their experiences on social media, highlighting the abrupt nature of the layoffs. The team was asked to work from home for operational reasons and was subsequently called to a Google Meet session around 9:30 PM, three hours after their regular shift. During this meeting, they were informed that their entire team was being let go with immediate effect.

The entire process reportedly took around five minutes, leaving many employees shocked. Speculations suggest that the implementation of AI tools may have reduced the workload for customer support, leading to plans for outsourcing some functions to third-party vendors.

Bluevine, founded in 2013, primarily offers digital banking and financial services to small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs.

In a related development, tech giant Oracle also initiated another round of layoffs on September 14, 2026. Employees reported that some had lost access to company systems as early as 4 AM, followed by notifications of termination via official emails later in the day.

Meanwhile, Adidas held a town hall meeting on September 15, where employees were divided into two groups regarding their future with the company. Some received exit letters immediately, while others were given until December 15 to transition into different roles.

Employees affected by these layoffs are assured of receiving their notice period salary and compensation as per company policy, acknowledging the need for operational changes to meet global tech requirements.

These developments reflect ongoing challenges in the job market, particularly in the tech and customer service sectors.
