CBSE Extends Application Date for Scanned Answer Sheets

Ajmer, May 20: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the application deadline for 12th-grade students to obtain scanned copies of their answer sheets. The new deadline is now May 23, an extension from the previous date of May 22. Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has issued the order regarding this change.

Additionally, CBSE has reduced the re-evaluation fees. Students will now pay only ₹100 for a scanned copy of their answer sheet instead of ₹700. The fee for marks verification or totaling has also been cut from ₹500 to ₹100. Furthermore, the fee for re-evaluating each question has been lowered from ₹100 to just ₹25.

This decision comes in response to student protests following the 12th-grade board results. During a press conference on May 17, School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar announced these changes, stating that if a student’s total marks increase by even one point, the re-evaluation fee will be refunded.

The process for obtaining scanned answer sheets began on May 19. Students wishing to verify or re-evaluate their papers can do so between May 26 and May 29. However, the board clarified that the re-evaluation process will also utilize the On-Screen Marking System (OSM) rather than manual assessment. They indicated that if there is a high volume of applications, the re-evaluation deadline may be extended further.

Students have raised concerns that the OSM has negatively impacted their scores, prompting the Ministry of Education to take these measures.
