New Delhi, July 25: Amid ongoing protests related to the NEET paper leak case, Delhi University (DU) has issued an advisory urging students and faculty to steer clear of demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. The university warned that participation in such gatherings could lead to legal repercussions.
In a statement shared on social media, DU emphasized the importance of safety, stating, “Dear students and faculty, your safety matters to us. Please note that any unlawful assemblies or demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, which are strictly regulated as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, may invite legal action.”
The advisory further highlighted that such activities pose not only a threat to students’ safety but could also impact their educational records and future s. Students were also cautioned to be vigilant against misleading and false news circulating on social media.
Active student organizations involved in the protests include the Students Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Association (AISA), All India Students Federation (AISF), Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), and various independent student groups from DU colleges.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) also issued a similar advisory, urging its community members to prioritize personal safety and refrain from participating in public demonstrations.
In response to the advisories, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized DU for allegedly threatening students exercising their democratic rights. He expressed his discontent on social media, stating, “How dare you threaten students for exercising their democratic rights? Please note, you are the ones that will be held accountable when the time comes.”
The situation remains tense as students navigate their rights and responsibilities amid the ongoing protests.
