IIT Delhi Leads in QS World University Rankings 2027

Mumbai, June 18: The QS World University Rankings 2027 have been released, revealing that no Indian university has made it to the top 100. However, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has once again established itself as the leading educational and research institution in India, improving its position to 118th globally.

For the 15th consecutive year, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has secured the top spot as the world’s number one university in the QS rankings.

Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have also shown improvement in their rankings. DU has climbed from 328th last year to 322nd this year, while JNU has moved up from 558th to 555th globally.

A total of 52 Indian institutions are now included in the QS rankings, a significant increase from just 14 institutions in 2017. This year’s evaluation covered over 1,500 universities from 106 countries and regions.

Institutions showing the most significant improvements include VIT, BITS Pilani, and Jamia Millia Islamia. VIT has jumped 94 places to rank 597th, BITS Pilani has climbed 93 spots to reach 575th, and Jamia Millia Islamia has improved by over 75 ranks, now standing at 686th.
