Mumbai, September 1: Indian Oil Corporation’s subsidiary, Oil Green Energy Limited (OGEL), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four municipalities in Haryana to launch integrated waste-to-clean energy projects. This initiative aims to convert waste into energy, with a total capacity of 5,000 tons per day (TPD) across the municipalities of Hisar, Ambala, Faridabad, and Gurugram.
The project is expected to generate approximately 70-75 TPD of compressed biogas (CBG) and 50 MW of green energy. The process will begin with the sorting and recycling of waste, focusing on producing CBG from wet/biodegradable waste. Non-recyclable dry waste will be utilized in the waste-to-energy plant for electricity generation.
This initiative is designed to reduce reliance on landfills and promote scientific waste management practices in urban areas, aligning with the government’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
