Mumbai, June 19: Two Indian airports have been recognized among the world’s seven most beautiful airports, according to the International Design Awards Pre-Versailles 2026. Navi Mumbai and Guwahati airports made it to this prestigious list, which evaluates airports based on aesthetics, innovation, passenger experience, environmental awareness, and local cultural identity.
Experts noted that both airports have successfully blended traditional architectural styles with modern design, earning them a global reputation. The list also includes notable airports like Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, Frankfurt Airport in Germany, and San Diego International Airport in the USA.
The Pre-Versailles Awards, given by UNESCO, honor outstanding architecture in airports, hotels, museums, and other modern structures, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and cultural identity. The design of Navi Mumbai Airport reflects elements of Indian culture, featuring lush open spaces, natural light, and state-of-the-art facilities, showcasing a new identity for Indian architecture.
