Maharashtra Police Appoints 282 Ex-Navy Agniveers as Constables

Mumbai, October 25: The Maharashtra government has appointed 282 former Agniveers from the Indian Navy as police constables. This initiative comes after these young individuals completed four years of service, and they will now play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in the state.

The recruitment of these Agniveers marks a significant step in recognizing the disciplined training they received in the armed forces, which is expected to enhance the state’s security framework.

These 282 candidates are part of the first batch of Agniveers from the Indian Navy. Upon their discharge, the Maharashtra government provided them with the opportunity to join the state police force. They have been deployed across various districts in Maharashtra, where they will contribute to public safety.

The central and state governments have also introduced special reservations and concessions for Agniveers completing their service, allowing them to join state police and paramilitary forces. This move by the Maharashtra government sets a precedent for other states to follow, emphasizing the value of military training in civilian roles.

Officials believe that the inclusion of these trained individuals will significantly strengthen the state’s law enforcement capabilities.
