Guwahati, October 7: The trial run of the country’s largest semiconductor plant has commenced in Jagiroad, Assam, as of October 5. Once fully operational, this facility is expected to produce approximately 48 million semiconductor chips daily. This plant will become the world’s largest semiconductor assembly and testing facility following the semiconductor fab.
The project, valued at around ₹27,000 crores, is anticipated to create between 30,000 and 40,000 jobs in the region. Spanning 592 acres in the Morigaon district, the plant will utilize advanced packaging technologies such as wire bonding, flip chip, and fan-out processes.
This initiative marks a significant step in boosting India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, aligning with the government’s vision for self-reliance in technology.
