Neelam Meena Appointed Chief Election Officer of West Bengal

Kolkata, May 27: Neelam Meena, a 1998 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Election Officer (CEO) of West Bengal as of May 26. This appointment follows the elevation of the former CEO, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, to the position of Chief Secretary of the state.

Neelam Meena has previously served as a magistrate in Hooghly district and has held the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA). Her extensive experience includes senior positions in the West Bengal government’s Youth Services and Environment departments, as well as roles in the Tea Board and the Ministry of Rural Development.

In February 2024, she was appointed Secretary of the Consumer Department in West Bengal, a position she held until her recent appointment as CEO. Neelam has a diverse background, having worked in various capacities including Principal Secretary, Director, Deputy Chairman, and District Collector across multiple departments.
