Prayagraj, August 1: The Railway Group D Physical Efficiency Test (PET) held from July 25 to 28 at the DSA Ground in Prayagraj saw a staggering 1,032 candidates fail. The challenging conditions, exacerbated by the sticky heat and humidity, made it difficult for many participants to complete the test.
During the PET, several candidates experienced health issues due to the oppressive weather, with many collapsing or sitting down after completing the 1,000-meter run. However, most male candidates succeeded in the 100-meter test while carrying a weight of 35 kilograms. According to railway officials, the running segment was the toughest part of the selection process.
In an unusual incident, a pregnant candidate from Bihar arrived to take the PET but was barred from participating after a health check confirmed her condition. Railway regulations state that pregnant women are allowed to reappear for the PET six months after delivery.
This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 32,438 Group D positions within the railway sector. Candidates who successfully passed the physical test will now be called for document verification, followed by a medical examination.
