
Mumbai, June 13: Senior diplomat Rudra Gaurav Shresth has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Turkey, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on June 11. Rudra, a 1999 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has served as India’s Ambassador to Iran since 2023.
Throughout his diplomatic , he has held positions in France, Mauritius, Afghanistan, Singapore, and Bhutan. Notably, he was the High Commissioner of India to Mozambique from 2016 to 2019 and served in the Prime Minister‘s Office (PMO) as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in 2022. From 2020 to 2023, he worked as Joint Secretary in the PMO.
Rudra holds a degree from the School of Economics at Delhi University. His extensive experience in international relations and diplomacy positions him well for this new role in Turkey.
The appointment is significant as it underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties and enhancing its presence in key regions globally.
