Mumbai, August 19: Shabnam Sinha has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Airtel Payments Bank, effective from October 1, 2026. The announcement was made on August 18, as she will succeed Sunil Bharti Mittal, whose term ends on September 30.
Shabnam Sinha brings over 30 years of global experience in banking, governance, and digital transformation. She has previously served as a Lead Specialist at the World Bank from 2010 to 2025 and has collaborated extensively with organizations like USAID and NCERT.
Her impressive portfolio includes working on projects worth over $4 billion across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Currently, she is also on the boards of major institutions such as Airtel Payments Bank, Vedanta, and Bharat Financial Inclusion.
This appointment marks a significant step for Airtel Payments Bank as it continues to strengthen its leadership in the financial sector.
