Darbhanga, August 13: In a dramatic turn of events, students at a college in Bahera, Darbhanga, protested against the lack of fans in examination rooms, leading to two students fainting due to the oppressive heat. The incident occurred during the fourth semester graduation exams on August 12.
Frustrated by the college administration’s negligence, the students held Principal Dr. Vinodanand Chaudhary hostage for nearly two hours. They expressed their anger over the absence of cooling facilities in classrooms, while the principal’s office was reportedly air-conditioned.
Witnesses stated that two students suddenly fell ill during the exam, prompting immediate action as water was splashed on their faces to revive them. The students highlighted that despite a large number of attendees in classes, there were no fans installed, leading to severe discomfort and health issues during the sweltering conditions.
Upon learning of the unrest, College Secretary Dr. Dilip Chaudhary arrived on the scene to address the students’ grievances. He assured them in writing that fans and other necessary facilities would be provided in the examination rooms. Following this assurance, the students released the principal.
