Successful Testing of C-295 Military Aircraft in India

Mumbai, June 12: The Indian Air Force successfully conducted the first test of the C-295 military transport aircraft on June 10. This medium tactical transport aircraft met all testing standards and is designed to replace the older Avro-748. The C-295 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft capable of transporting soldiers, cargo, medical evacuations, and special operations. It can carry up to 70 soldiers, 48 paratroopers, or 24 medical stretchers at a time. The Indian government had signed a deal worth ₹21,935 crore with Spain’s Airbus Defence and Space for 56 aircraft in September 2021. The first batch of 16 aircraft has already been delivered, while the remaining 40 will be assembled by Tata Advanced Systems Limited at a production facility in Vadodara.
