Prayagraj, August 27: The results for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 have been officially declared by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC). Over 1.3 million candidates participated in the primary and junior level examinations held on July 2, 3, and 4 across 955 centers in 60 districts.
The pass percentage for the primary level (classes 1 to 5) stands at 80.07%, while the junior level (classes 6 to 8) recorded a pass percentage of 71.85%. A total of 206,771 teachers successfully cleared the exam, but 62,028 teachers failed. In response, the state government is preparing to conduct a special TET examination for these teachers to help them retain their jobs.
Candidates can check their results, scorecards, and cut-off marks on the official UPESSC website. The commission has also set up a helpline and email support for technical assistance and further inquiries.
The examination was conducted in five shifts, with two shifts for the primary level and three for the junior level. This year, 1,994,661 candidates registered for the test.
In the primary level exam, 713,648 candidates appeared, with 571,435 declared successful, resulting in a pass percentage of 80.07%. For the junior level, 1,057,021 candidates participated, and 759,513 passed, achieving a success rate of 71.85%.
The UPESSC utilized a normalization process to ensure fairness, as the exams were conducted in multiple shifts with varying question paper difficulty levels.
Additionally, the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) date has been postponed to September 6, allowing failed UP TET candidates to participate. The last date for CTET applications is September 1. The UP government is expected to release a notification for the special TET exam in September, providing another opportunity for teachers to pass.
