Mumbai, June 29: A fresh controversy has erupted between the CBSE board and student Vedant Srivastava regarding the revaluation results for the 12th grade. This dispute reignited on social media after Vedant alleged that his marks in Physics did not increase following the revaluation.
In May, Vedant had raised concerns about the CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, claiming that the board had mistakenly uploaded the answer sheet of another student for his Physics assessment. The CBSE later acknowledged this error and corrected it.
Recently, the CBSE released the revaluation results, prompting Vedant to claim that his marks in Physics remained unchanged.
CBSE’s Response: 11 Marks Increased
In response to Vedant’s allegations, the CBSE dismissed his claims as “completely false,” asserting that there is no factual basis for his statements. According to the board, Vedant’s total marks increased by 11 after the revaluation, with specific improvements noted: his Mathematics score rose from 46 to 47, Computer Science from 61 to 62, and notably, his Physics marks increased from 35 to 44.
The CBSE reported a 99.7% success rate in the revaluation process.
Vedant’s Counterclaim
Following the CBSE’s clarification, Vedant took to social media to refute the board’s claims once again. He argued that the increase in his Physics score was not due to the revaluation but rather because the original marks were inaccurately recorded on the wrong answer sheet.
Vedant stated, “How is this a blatant lie? The 9 marks increase in Physics does not happen after the opening of the re-evaluation portal. If the answer sheet of Physics was not mine, how were the marks given on that answer sheet my marks?”
Discussion on Digital Assessment Systems
Vedant’s claims have sparked a renewed debate online regarding the digital assessment systems used by the CBSE.
CBSE Clarifies Timeliness of Revaluation
The CBSE also clarified that the revaluation process was completed on time, stating that the results were processed without any delays. The revaluation process began on June 27 and concluded on July 11, 2025, with a notification issued on June 21 regarding the verification and revaluation results for the 12th grade.
