Mumbai, September 27: Nisar Adhikari, a 19-year-old cybersecurity expert, has been recognized by the US Department of Justice (US DoJ) for identifying security vulnerabilities on their website. His contributions have earned him a place in the US DoJ Hall of Fame, which honors researchers who report security flaws.
Nisar previously gained attention in May 2026 for exposing security issues in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) portal. His skills in cybersecurity led to an opportunity to work as a Threat Intelligence Engineer at IIT Kanpur’s C3iHub.
Sharing his achievement on Twitter, Nisar posted a screenshot of the US DoJ’s acknowledgment page, which lists researchers who have responsibly disclosed security vulnerabilities. He discovered technical flaws while checking the security of the US Justice Department’s website and reported them for necessary improvements.
In addition to his work with the US DoJ, Nisar wrote a blog post highlighting security weaknesses in the CBSE portal, which resulted in his appointment as an Open Source Intelligence and Threat Intelligence Engineer at IIT Kanpur. He analyzed publicly available sources and identified flaws in various websites and applications.
A member of the expert team noted that Nisar has identified several critical vulnerabilities and is highly focused on cybersecurity. His experience includes working with major startups and participating in various open-source software projects, establishing himself as a founding engineer.
Nisar’s interest in computers began at a young age, and he started learning cybersecurity for fun at around 13 years old. Over time, this hobby evolved into serious research and programming endeavors.
