
Chennai, August 27: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially started the online registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Initially scheduled to begin on August 14, the registration was postponed, and candidates can now apply online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) starting today.
Mandatory Registration via DigiLocker
This year, candidates are required to register through DigiLocker. The last date for registration is September 27. Information such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, profile photo, address, and verified ID card number will be automatically filled from DigiLocker.
GATE Exam Fees
– Women/SC/ST/PWD: ₹1,000
– Other candidates: ₹2,000
Candidates opting for two papers will need to pay double the fee.
Candidates can apply by visiting the official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
New Subjects Added
This year, a new paper titled ‘Robotics and Automation’ (RA) has been introduced, and ‘Textile Engineering and Fiber Science’ (TF) has been included as a sectional paper under ‘Engineering Sciences’ (XE).
The GATE exam, which began in 1983, will see its 45th edition in 2027. The exam will be conducted solely in English, and candidates can choose to appear for one or two papers based on their preferred combination.
