Jharkhand Cancels 44 Recruitment Exams Amid Protests

Mumbai, August 19: In a significant move following ongoing protests over irregularities in recruitment exams, the Jharkhand government has canceled 44 recruitment exams. This decision was announced by the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language.

The announcement came after a cabinet meeting on August 17, where the government agreed to one of the main demands of the protesting students: the cancellation of the JSSC CGL exam. Additionally, all exams conducted by the outsourcing agency TDPL and the results released by them have also been annulled.

To improve the examination system, the government has formed a committee led by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal. This committee is tasked with studying the examination system and will submit its report to the government within two months.

In light of the urgency surrounding recruitment exam-related cases, the government is proposing the establishment of a fast-track court to expedite hearings. The state government plans to request this from the High Court.

The cancellation of the JSSC CGL exam has sparked a new wave of protests among approximately 2,950 candidates who had cleared the exam and were in the recruitment process. Many candidates expressed their anger, stating that the decision has left them facing unemployment once again.

One protester, visibly emotional, appealed to his parents to remain patient, asserting that they would overcome this setback. He urged the government to reconsider its decision, claiming that it undermines a court order.
