Mumbai, September 8: In a shocking turn of events, Rituka Patil, who ranked seventh in the Maharashtra Drug Inspector Group-B examination, has been implicated in a paper leak scandal. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered digital evidence linked to the case, including a 270-page WhatsApp chat.
The examination, conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), was cancelled on August 25 due to allegations of a paper leak.
Details from the 270-Page Chat
The CBI revealed that the chat between Rituka and another accused, Gaurav Patil, discussed purchasing the exam paper. It was also disclosed that Rituka received 90 questions but only answered 78 to avoid suspicion.
In a bid to evade law enforcement, Rituka reportedly discarded her mobile phone in the Ulhas River after the exam, as revealed in the chat. This information came to light following the recovery of Gaurav’s phone backup and chat history.
Allegations of Betrayal
After the exam was cancelled, the CBI disclosed that Gaurav Patil was among those arrested. It was revealed that Rituka had an affair with Gaurav, and following their breakup, she informed the commission about the paper leak.
Based on Gaurav’s information, the commission contacted the Mumbai police, leading to an investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Exam Details
The examination took place on March 22, 2026, and the results were released in July, followed by interviews. However, the exam was cancelled after the paper leak allegations surfaced.
Ongoing Protests by Students
Students have been protesting against irregularities in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Candidates are voicing their concerns over the lack of transparency and issues in the examination process.
Since September 5, the protests have intensified, with candidates taking to the streets in Amravati. Thousands of students have demonstrated against the district administration, demanding the resignation of the MPSC chairman. Protesters warned of larger demonstrations if their demands are not met. Teachers associated with competitive exams have also raised concerns about the alleged irregularities.
