NEET UG Re-Exam Scheduled with New Guidelines

Mumbai, June 12: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant changes to the NEET UG re-examination, which is set to take place on June 21, 2026. The exam duration has been extended from 180 minutes to 195 minutes, and additional rough work sheets will be provided to candidates.

The NEET UG exam originally scheduled for May 3, 2026, was cancelled due to allegations of a paper leak, prompting the NTA to reschedule the test. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter.

To ensure the integrity of the examination process, paper setters will be placed under strict lockdown until the exam date, June 21. A total of 551 cities across India and 14 cities abroad have been selected as examination centres.

In a bid to secure the examination materials, the Indian Air Force will be used to transport question papers and related materials. Authorities are closely monitoring all aspects of the exam, including question setting, translation, printing, packaging, storage, transportation, and distribution.

Digital surveillance will also be in place to combat misinformation and prevent the circulation of fake question papers on social media platforms.

Furthermore, the NTA is developing a new system where experts preparing the questions will not know which exam they are contributing to. This will involve creating a large digital bank of approximately 10,000 questions, from which the final exam paper will be compiled using technology.

The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a crucial examination for admissions into medical and dental courses in India, including prestigious institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER.
