Alwar, August 24: A principal from a government school in Alwar district, Rajasthan, has been suspended following the emergence of an inappropriate video. In the footage, Principal Lalchand Meena is seen bathing with female students from classes 11 and 12 at a dam, reportedly without any clothing.
On August 5, 2026, after the Independence Day celebrations, Meena took approximately 200 students on a picnic to the Bharaaj Dam, located about 2 kilometers away from the school.
Swimming Ban in Place for Four Years
The principal led the students on foot through a route adjacent to the Sariska jungle, an area known for tiger movements. Local residents have expressed concern about the dam’s safety, noting that it has been the site of several drownings in the past. Due to these incidents, access to the dam has been prohibited for the last four years.
Immediate Suspension Issued
Following the incident, the Directorate of Secondary Education in Bikaner promptly suspended Meena. The suspension order was issued after the video went viral on social media. The department stated that Meena’s actions were in violation of the code of conduct established for government employees. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him under Rule 13(1) of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1958.
Community Outrage
After the video surfaced, local villagers visited the school to express their anger towards the principal and alerted the police. They accused Meena of taking the students under the pretext of teaching them swimming and allowing them to enter the dam without life jackets. Notably, no female teacher accompanied the students during this outing.
