Ajmer, August 14: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has resolved the legal dispute surrounding the Assistant Professor (College Education Department) recruitment for 2025, paving the way for the recruitment process to proceed. The single bench of the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur heard a petition filed by Dharmveer Meena, who withdrew the challenge against the recruitment process. This withdrawal has allowed the recruitment for 922 positions to move forward.
Advocate M.F. Baig, representing the commission, presented a detailed response in court, highlighting the misleading facts presented by the petitioner and requesting a penalty against him. Following this, the petitioner’s lawyer withdrew the writ petition.
The Assistant Professor recruitment examination for various subjects is scheduled to take place between December 7 and December 20, 2025, with approximately 92,600 candidates registered for the examination.
Recruitment and Interview Process Uninterrupted
Despite an interim order issued by the High Court on July 30, 2026, the commission ensured that the recruitment process continued without interruption. Results for successful candidates in the interview process were consistently released, maintaining the recruitment and interview procedures.
Commission Raises Issue of Misleading Facts
The commission adopted a firm stance in court, stating that the petitioner attempted to disrupt the recruitment process by presenting misleading and false facts. The commission urged the court to impose a penalty on the petitioner for wasting valuable court time with unfounded claims.
Increase in Positions from 574 to 922
This case pertains to S.B. Civil Writ Petition No. 13640/2026, involving Dharmveer Meena and others against the State of Rajasthan. An interim order was issued in favor of the petitioner on July 30, 2026, after which the commission filed a stay vacation application under Article 226(3) of the Constitution to annul the interim order.
The commission informed the court that the facts presented in the petition and stay application were entirely misleading. According to the commission, the advertisement for the Assistant Professor recruitment was issued on September 18, 2025, while the notification from the Personnel Department was released on July 21, 2025.
As per the Personnel Department’s notification dated July 21, 2025, the limit for increasing additional positions in service rules was raised from 50 percent to 100 percent. Consequently, an increase of 348 positions was made to the original advertisement of 574 positions, totaling 922 positions, as per the correction letter issued on May 13, 2026.
Petition Withdrawn After Facts Revealed
The commission’s advocate elaborated on the facts and rules related to the recruitment in court. Following this, the petitioner acknowledged his mistake and promptly withdrew the writ petition.
Proactive Measures for Future Recruitment
To prevent sudden disruptions in future recruitment processes due to legal disputes, the commission has decided to file a caveat in relevant courts for all recruitments involving over one lakh candidates. This measure aims to ensure that no unilateral orders halt the recruitment process without hearing the commission’s side.
Monitoring of Judicial Cases
Currently, the commission has about 3,000 judicial cases pending in various courts. To ensure timely and proper resolution, the commission’s president, Lieutenant Colonel Kesari Singh, is personally discussing each case with the legal team, striving for effective representation in court.
