Patna, September 1: A six-year-old boy, Aditya Kumar, has gained national attention after a video of him protesting during the BPSC TRE-4 candidates’ demonstration went viral. Aditya, a first-grade student, alleged that he and his parents were mistreated by police during the protest on August 25. He claimed they were held at the police station for nearly eight hours without being allowed to meet each other.
In a powerful statement, Aditya drew inspiration from Dasrath Manjhi, saying, “Just as Manjhi broke the pride of the mountain, I will break the pride of the government.”
Protesting with the Constitution
Aditya was seen sitting at the Gardanibagh protest site, holding a book of the Indian Constitution, asserting that he was reading it to support his demands.
Seeking Justice from the Prime Minister
Accompanied by his parents, Jitendra Kumar and Munni Kumari, Aditya expressed his desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lodge a complaint against the Patna police. He had previously filed a complaint with the Director General of Police in Bihar.
Protest Ended by MP Pappu Yadav
On the night of August 31, Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav visited Aditya and convinced him to end his protest. Yadav claimed he carried a message from Rahul Gandhi, who expressed a willingness to meet Aditya. He also stated that justice would be sought through the Patna High Court and the Supreme Court regarding the treatment of Aditya’s family.
Aditya’s Bold Statements
During the Bihar student movement, Aditya spoke passionately in support of the students, demanding job opportunities from Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and calling for the resignation of Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari.
Police Intervention for Safety
Aditya climbed onto the roof of a bus while holding the national flag, questioning the police, “Do you provide safety or commit murder?” Following this, the police took him to the station for his safety.
Previous Involvement in Protests
Aditya has previously participated in protests related to paper leaks and the AK-47 incident in Siwan. He also joined students on hunger strikes at Gardanibagh, stating that he too is a student and could face similar issues in the future.
This incident has sparked widespread discussions about the involvement of young children in protests and the responsibilities of authorities towards their safety.
