Mumbai, July 22: The central government has announced a 50% reservation for ex-Agniveers in the recruitment of constables (GD) and riflemen (GD) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles. This information was provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Lok Sabha.
In addition, several state governments, including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, have also declared special reservations and age limit relaxations for Agniveers in their police and other security services. Home Minister Nityanand Rai shared this information in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, ex-Agniveers will be exempted from the Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and written examination, making the recruitment process easier compared to previous norms.
Special Wing Established
To enhance the future and employment opportunities for ex-Agniveers, the Ministry of Home Affairs has established an Ex-Agniveer Wing. This wing will coordinate their appointments in various security forces and other opportunities.
Announcement Before Term Completion
The first batch of Agniveers recruited under the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ will complete their four-year term by the end of this year. The government has proactively prepared pathways for their employment in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.
States Offering Reservations for Agniveers:
Haryana
The state cabinet has approved a policy for Agniveers, increasing the reservation for ex-Agniveers in state services from 10% to 20%. This includes positions such as forest guards, warders, and mining guards.
Delhi
In Delhi, 20% of constable positions in the police are reserved for ex-Agniveers, who are also exempt from the physical efficiency test. Additionally, there is a three-year age relaxation for ex-Agniveers, with a five-year relaxation for candidates from the first batch of the Agnipath scheme.
Uttarakhand and Sikkim:
The state government has implemented a 10% horizontal reservation for uniformed positions, while Sikkim has announced a 20% reservation for police recruitment.
Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, there is a 20% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in UP Police (Civil Police), Home Guards, Fire Services, and Jail Warder recruitment. There is also a three-year age relaxation for general category candidates and a five-year relaxation for the first batch of Agniveers.
