Indore, July 16: The Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore has officially commenced its first international flight service, marking a significant milestone for the region. The inaugural flight, operated by Air India Express, connects Indore to Abu Dhabi and was flagged off by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on July 15.
This new service will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with a flight duration of approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. The introduction of this international route is expected to enhance trade, investment, and tourism opportunities for Madhya Pradesh.
The launch aligns with the state’s Civil Aviation Policy 2025, which aims to develop eight new air routes, including this one from Indore. The policy also envisions the establishment of airports every 150 kilometers to improve air connectivity across the state. The government has set a target for the development of these plans by 2030, which includes the creation of an MRO hub to boost the aircraft maintenance industry.
