Mumbai, July 21: A NEET aspirant from Kanpur, Arya Singh, has made serious allegations against the National Testing Agency (NTA), claiming her score was altered from 540 to 167 shortly after the results were announced. Accompanied by her father, Arya protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding accountability from the NTA.
The NTA has responded, stating that Arya’s original OMR sheet is secure with them and was sent to her registered email during the OMR response challenge window. The agency clarified that the viral images circulating online, which purportedly show her altered score, are digitally manipulated versions of her actual OMR sheet.
The agency emphasized that creating or disseminating fake or edited OMR sheets is a serious offense under the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and legal action may be taken against offenders.
In her claims, Arya stated that discrepancies in her score appeared within two hours of the result declaration. She has submitted evidence, including screenshots and documents, to both the NTA and the Education Minister, urging for a fair investigation into her case.
The NTA has reiterated that all candidates‘ genuine OMR sheets are on record and have been made available to them. They have also dismissed similar claims from another candidate, Abhay Yadav, asserting that his score was verified and consistent with the official records.
The controversy surrounding the NEET results has raised significant concerns among students and parents, highlighting the need for transparency and integrity in the examination process.
