Ludhiana, July 19: A student from Ludhiana has claimed to have achieved All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in the NEET UG 2026 examination, displaying a scorecard showing 715 marks. However, she reported that the results mysteriously disappeared from the website shortly after.
The student, Simran Rani, checked her results on July 16 and initially saw her score of 715 out of 720, which led to celebrations at her home. However, when she checked again, the results were no longer visible, causing distress for her family.
The village head has stated that Simran has lodged a complaint with the relevant authorities regarding the issue, which has left her family troubled. They have been summoned to Delhi for further discussions, and if no resolution is found, they plan to approach the court.
Simran’s father, Hardip Kumar, mentioned that despite limited resources, she dedicated 12 to 13 hours daily to her studies. Her mother, Poonam, questioned why her name was not listed in the merit list if her score was indeed displayed on the website.
The village head, Neeraj, affirmed Simran’s hard work and noted that a screenshot of her score was taken at the time. The family is seeking clarity from officials, and if necessary, they will escalate the matter legally.
In a related incident, a candidate from Haryana, Mukul Kajal, has also raised concerns about discrepancies in his scorecard, alleging that his marks were altered without notice.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the NEET UG 2026 results late on July 16, revealing that around 11.21 lakh students qualified for various medical courses out of approximately 20 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam.
This year, no student achieved a perfect score of 720, with Aryan Gupta from Ludhiana and Panshul Bansal from Haryana both scoring 715 marks to secure the top ranks.
