NEET UG 2026 Results Announced: 11.21 Lakh Students Qualify

New Delhi, July 17: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the results for NEET UG 2026, with approximately 11.21 lakh students qualifying for admission into medical, dental, AYUSH, and other medical courses. This year, around 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, which was rescheduled to June 21 after the initial test on May 3 was cancelled due to allegations of a paper leak.

Among the top scorers, Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana emerged as all-India toppers, scoring 715 out of a possible 720 marks. Notably, no student achieved a perfect score this year. A total of 138 candidates secured over 690 marks, while 19 students scored above 700.

The results indicate a significant participation from female candidates, with over 58% of the qualifiers being girls. The age of 99% of the top rankers ranged between 17 to 19 years. Students can view their scorecards on the official NTA website, neet.nta.nic.in.

In terms of trends, the participation of general category students has decreased by 3% compared to previous years. The cut-off marks have also seen a substantial increase; for the General/EWS category, the minimum qualifying score rose from 144 to 213, while for OBC, SC, and ST categories, it increased from 113 to 177.

The NEET UG exam is set to undergo a major transformation, transitioning to a computer-based test format starting in 2027, moving away from the traditional pen-and-paper method. This change aims to enhance the examination process, although the syllabus and marking scheme will remain unchanged.

The timeline for the NEET UG 2026 exam and results is as follows:
– May 3, 2026: Initial NEET UG exam conducted
– May 12, 2026: Exam cancelled due to paper leak allegations
– June 21, 2026: Re-examination conducted
– June 25, 2026: Provisional answer key released
– July 16, 2026: Final answer key and results announced

This year’s evaluation process also saw significant changes, with all assessment stages completed simultaneously, allowing for timely results.
