Rajasthan Man Arrested for Hacking RPSC Website for Job Applications

Mumbai, June 23: A 27-year-old man named Rahul Kumar has been arrested for hacking the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) website in a bid to secure a government job. The cyber police apprehended him after discovering that he used AI tools to manipulate the website and withdraw applications of other candidates ahead of him.

According to the investigation, Kumar attempted to infiltrate the portal related to the Assistant Mining Engineer recruitment exam and alter the selection list. He had previously secured a place on the provisional waiting list and created a fake Single Sign-On (SSO) ID and Gmail account to bypass the One-Time Registration (OTR) process using AI coding.

Kumar then withdrew applications of candidates ranked above him on the waiting list, hoping to improve his chances of selection.

The investigation revealed that he was second on the waiting list and strategically withdrew applications from candidates ranked first, fourth, and sixth to avoid suspicion. The matter came to light when the affected candidates received withdrawal notifications on their mobile phones.

To conceal his identity, Kumar logged into the RPSC portal using various VPNs and other people’s Wi-Fi networks. Cyber experts and the Ajmer police tracked his device and IP address, leading to his arrest. He has been remanded in police custody until June 25, as authorities investigate whether he acted alone or had accomplices.

Kumar, a resident of Meena Dausa, holds a B.Tech in Mining Engineering from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and was recently employed as a mining engineer at SAIL in Jharkhand. He aimed to secure a job in Rajasthan and tampered with the RPSC website to achieve his goal.
