UPTET 2026 Result Controversy Sparks Protests

Prayagraj, August 29: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) announced the UPTET 2026 results on August 26. While many successful candidates celebrated, around 60,000 candidates expressed deep disappointment as their results were rejected due to errors in the OMR sheets.

Many of these candidates had matched their answers with the official answer key and believed they had passed. However, the final results showed their status as rejected.

Reasons for Rejection Explained by the Commission
According to the commission, the rejection was due to incorrect filling of circles for roll numbers, question paper booklet numbers, or other essential columns. Errors such as misalignment or missing entries led to the automatic rejection of these OMR sheets by the computer software. In response, candidates have filed objections against this decision.

Demand for Manual Review
Candidates are demanding a manual review, stating that in many cases, their roll numbers and booklet numbers were correct, but mistakes occurred in filling the circles. They argue that if their identities can be verified, OMR sheets should not be outright rejected but rather subjected to manual scrutiny.

Over 5,000 Objections Submitted to the Commission
In Prayagraj, candidates presented their demands to the commission and submitted over 5,000 objections following the exam. On August 28, more than 300 candidates protested outside the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, calling for a re-evaluation of the results.
