
Mumbai, July 3: The Indian government has approved several significant projects and appointments that are crucial for students preparing for government jobs.
In a notable development, the tenure of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has been extended until July 14, 2027. This decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on July 1. Misri, an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1989 batch, has previously served as India’s ambassador to China and has played a vital role during the Ladakh standoff.
Additionally, Ravi Agrawal’s tenure as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has been extended for six months, allowing him to continue in his role until December 31, 2026. Agrawal, an Indian Revenue Service officer from the 1988 batch, was appointed to the CBDT in July 2023.
In military appointments, Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra has taken over as the Commander-in-Chief of the South Western Command, succeeding Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh. Malhotra has a distinguished in the Indian Army, having been commissioned in June 1989.
Furthermore, Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain has assumed the position of Vice Chief of the Army Staff, replacing General Dheeraj Seth. Jain has significant experience in various operational areas, including command roles in infantry battalions and UN peacekeeping missions.
Lastly, the government has approved a ₹14,115 crore highway project aimed at enhancing road connectivity between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, which includes the construction of the Dwarka Expressway tunnel and several new flyovers.
